Uncomfortable Revolution

Our Story

Uncomfortable Revolution Empathy Gifts. Learn our story. Young woman and young man stand side by side with awkward expressions on their faces. They are looking straight to camera. The woman has an afro and wears glasses, a striped shirt and denim overalls. The man also wears glass and a yellow shirt. We can only see them from the chest up and they take up most of the shot.

We started with the question: why do we feel so awkward when a friend reveals a serious medical diagnosis?

At some point in our lives,  many of us will experience the serious medical diagnosis of a friend or loved one. Few of us know how to really be there or even know what to say, because it's really awkward to talk about health. Sometimes, that awkwardness leads to silence, which takes us further away from the ones who need us the most. After launching a lifestyle magazine for chronic illness and disability in Spring 2018, we wanted to find a way to help people make truly meaningful connections during times of grief or loss.

Creating bonds through laughter.

They are both wearing purple tops and we can only see them from the chest up. The background is a vibrant pink hue.

When cancer hit our family, we turned to humor to cope. We also experienced a lot of awkward moments between family, friends, and colleagues. We decided to laugh at these moments because the truth is, most of us just don't know what to say when someone says, "I have [insert serious medical condition here]." It's even trickier to figure out an appropriate gift and non-awkward card greeting. We wanted to take care of that for you.

Creating a greeting card that is purposeful and authentic.

Greeting cards are a great way to reach out to a friend who needs you. But what if, instead of sitting on a shelf, that card became a way for your friend to communicate their needs? Our empathy cards allow you to offer help where your friend needs it most...

Uncomfortable Revolution Empathy Cards offer real help for friends who are ill. Sample of two cards shown on no background.
