Fun history facts about the Spoonie Sisters ringer t-shirt!

Do you know what makes a ringer t-shirt a ringer t-shirt? It is the fact that the jersey t-shirt fabric is one solid color, with the ribbing used for the collar and the sleeve bands being of a contrasting color. Hence the word ringer!

Traditionally, the most common ringer colors were white with black ribbing. First seen in the United States in the early 1950s, ringer t-shits gained popularity, especially among the emerging rock-and-roll subculture. Ringer t-shirts grew in popularity in the early 1970s, remaining incredibly popular throughout that fantastic decade. But by the mid-1980s, other t-shirt fashions replaced the ringer T-shirt.

But 20 years later, in the early 2000s, ringer t-shirts again experienced a resurgence, mainly among teenagers. They continue to gain popularity, although they have never enjoyed the same level of popularity as their 1970s heyday. We hope INCLUSIVE ringer t-shirts contribute to the resurgence of the stylish ringer t-shirt.
